Lemuel wants to know why
people answer their phones when they are having lunch with others. He observed,
and overheard, one parent answer numerous calls from adolescent children during
lunch. Lemuel asked me, “Bob, who is training who in this behavior? Can we not
learn to wait, does everything have to be NOW?”
Lemuel’s question made me
wonder if phone and texting addiction isn’t contributing to other addictions. For
sure it is contributing to the absence of peace in our society. We are a nation
of addicts in one form or another.
