Old Wood

I was pondering this morning...there are many plants, such as grape vines, in which the blossoms and fruit are produced from the "old wood". When we prune the old out of season we do not have blossoms and fruit for the current year.

Some types of clematis produce buds from old wood, some from new wood. If we don't know the type we can prune at the wrong time. 

Alas, we don't like to wait a year for the old wood to produce - I wonder how much fruit we've lost over the years.  

God forms us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29) over many seasons of life. If we are impatient with ourselves, or with others, we will miss the best wine.
