We are supposed to be a people
on mission for Jesus, but how often do we look at ourselves as others might
look at us? There used to be a church billboard where we live that had the
American flag as a backdrop. I wonder what a citizen of another country might
think of that. What does that communicate? Does that mean that a foreigner to
America who is interested in the Gospel must embrace America foreign policy?
Economic policy? America’s rampant sexual immorality? And what does that
communicate to American Christians? What does that do to the idea that we are
first and foremost citizens of heaven? (Philippians 3:20). It is lethal to
confuse the flag with the Cross.
